For a sense of that nature mysticism from a work of literature I don't think you can do much better that "A Glastonbury Romance" by John Cowper Powyes. This unusual book is over 1000 pages long, Powyes a contemporary of D.H. Lawrence, writing in a fairly similar style, but even with the daunting length of this book it's absolutely compelling and totally original. Great article as ever Geoff, and I love the musical link; I'll have to go for a deeper dive into "My Morning Jacket".

1000 pages plus! I just finished four volumes of Jacques Vallee’s memoirs…and that’s 2000 plus. And Ive got…I dunno, tens of thousands of pages on my shelves awaiting my attention. Thanks for the recommendation.
